glitchlist Blog Leave a Comment

Cisco Catalyst 4500/6500 series can host up to 2 Supervisor Engine in his chassis.

Below a quick list of commands to set up redundancy between Supervisors Engines:

# Cisco

  # Confs:

Cat4500e-LAB(config)#redundancy
Cat4500e-LAB(config-red)#mode sso
Cat4500e-LAB(config-red)#main-cpu
Cat4500e-LAB(config-r-mc)#auto-sync startup-config

  # Troubleshooting:

Cat4500e-LAB#show redundancy switchover history
Cat4500e-LAB#show redundancy domain default
Cat4500e-LAB#show redundancy states domain default

  # Service commands:

Cat4500e-LAB#redundancy config-sync validate mismatched-commands
Cat4500e-LAB#redundancy force-switchover
Cat4500e-LAB#redundancy reload peer
Cat4500e-LAB#redundancy reload shelf

In (config-r-mc)# section you can choose what sync with the stand-by supervisor but remember vlan-database is always syncronized!

bye.
